Leaving A Legacy
Most of us want to be in a financial position to do more for those that need our support. Our government's tax laws offer incentives that encourage support of works and dreams of organizations like Three Links Care Center that are making a difference in the world. Through careful gift planning you can do more for others then you may have anticipated and still improve your own position, both today and tomorrow.
Gifts of Cash
Nothing is as simple and direct as giving cash. One can make a general donation to Three Links Care Center, to be used for our greatest current need. One may also designate a large gift for a specific purpose. For tax purposes, if one itemizes, outright gifts of cash are fully deductible up to 50% of ones adjusted gross income.
Gifts of Securities
Stocks or other investments that have appreciated in value and that have been held for more then one year can become a substantial gift to Three Links Care Center, at a low net cost. First, one avoids paying any capital gains tax on the increase in the value of the stock. In addition, one receives a tax deduction for the full market value of the stock on the date of the gift.
Bequest
A bequest may be made through a will. It can be a specific dollar amount or a percentage of a donor's estate. This is an especially attractive way to establish a legacy for Three Links Care Center while minimizing federal estate taxes.
Gifts of Life Insurance
If one owns a life insurance policy that is no longer needed, it is a perfect vehicle to make a charitable gift. To receive a charitable deduction, name Three Links Care Center as both the owner and beneficiary of the policy.
Gifts of Real Estate
Most any real estate developed or undeveloped is potentially a charitable gift. If one has owned property for a long time, it likely has increased in value significantly. Ones property opens the door to a unique giving opportunity: donate the property outright, place it in trust or retain the use of it for life. All of these methods will enable one to enjoy financial benefits while supporting Three Links Care Center in a meaningful way.
Life Income Gifts
If one is considering a major gift to Three Links Care Center, a gift of cash or stock in the form of a "life income gift" can benefit us and significantly increase ones income. A life income gift allows one to transfer assets now, and yet continue to receive income from the cash, stock or other property contributed.
